Japanese Soaking Tub, Aspen, Co

ABOUT THE JAPANESE SOAKING TUB

This 660 gallon Japanese soaking tub with hydraulic retractable teak floor. The engineering design challenge was to achieve a zero floor deflection, zero tub deflection and zero wall deflection from the weight of river-rock waterfall wall.

Think Simply! It’s a automatic pocket door laid on its slide with drawer glides. Technical in application and fussy in details.

Roll-On glides was the spec to do the job. These glides are used to move aircraft around on the carriers and made in the USA.

A spec that can hold the weight of 3-4 people wet standing on a moveable floor taking a shower when fully extended. No side rails and a dead straight throw with zero deflection meets the solution.

The Tub is fabricated out of structural lumber and CMU Block with backer board. Then finished in multi-layers of fiberglass cloth, hand crafted and shaped like a boat. A sub straight to receive charred free glass tile with zero deflection meets the solution. The safest place slope side in case of an avalanche.

The River Rock Waterfall is engineered and constructed with a 10 degree pitch.

Water that is directed to hug the wail and navigate through the river rock for a no splash experience. Something that you can to listen to that works functionally and can hold the weight above a glass tiled wall. Zero deflection meets the solution.

Other features include, aluminum honey comb grating covered in yacht grade teak flooring. Piston driven hydraulic smooth movement and wired with child stops and emergency sensers. PowerX smart hot water storage with high density boilers for a quick 18 minute fill time. Fixtures by Dornbracht.
